ABSTRACT

As medical record management is key to hospital management, a hospital introduced paperless practice of automatic archiving in the following practices. Clarification and identification of the scope of business system transformation, establishment of an architecture integrating various business systems, integration platform, hospital data center, archiving system and certification authority, creation of three automatic archiving processes: initial archiving, late return archiving and modification archiving, for refined management of the review and tracking of archived medical records. Thanks to this paperless management, the automatic archiving rate was as high as 95.95%for medical records, 96.47%for laboratory reports and 99.58%for medical orders respectively. A full-process and whole-cycle informationized closed loop management was achieved for the collection, archiving, review and utilization of medical records, substantially upgrading hospital informationization and medical record management.

ABSTRACT

Background: Partograph use in labor has revolutionized the obstetric care. WHO recommends universal use of WHO modified partograph, which in clinical setup is less often used. Debdas (2006) proposed the paperless partogram which is designed for use by clinician/nurses/midwives as it is very simple and low skill method. The present study is proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of paperless partogram as a bedside tool and its comparison with WHO modified partograph. Methods: It was a prospective analytical study done in department of obstetrics and gynecology, JNMCH, AMU, Aligarh from September 2017 to July 2019 and included 400 pregnant women at term, divided into 2 groups of 100 each Group A (paperless partogram) and Group B (WHO modified partograph) and their labor events were followed. Results: Out of 200 women that were included in each group, maximum women were multigravida, 58.5% in group A and 61.5% women in Group B. Mean age in Group A was 24.68±3.8years and Group B was 24.93±3.75 years. The mean duration of labor in Group A was 3.57±2.20 hours and Group B was 3.40±2.03 hours. There were 87.5% of women who delivered before alert ETD, likewise in Group B; women who delivered before alert line are 88.5%. These differences were statically not significant. Perinatal outcome was also similar in both groups. Conclusions: In our study, the paperless study was found to be as efficient as WHO modified partograph for management of labor. The mean delivery time was 3.57 hours similar to WHO partograph of difference between alert and action line. Thus, for resource poor setting like India with overburdened population paperless partogram can be used as an alternative to WHO modified partograph which is complex and time consuming.

ABSTRACT

December 2019 witnessed the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan city and its rapid spread to other parts of China, and overseas as well. Tongji Hospital, as a designated hospital for treatment of critically ill patients, shoulders the diagnosis and treatment tasks of numerous critically ill patients of such a disease. For the purpose of handling their medical records and effectively preventing the nosocomial infection of the disease, the hospital puts in place both the electronic signature system of patients based on a Wechat applet and a paperless medical record total solution based on the data center. These measures overcome the challenges incurred by patients’ signature on paper-based records and medical records archiving during the epidemic. On the other hand, they can not only downsize the paper-based medical records, minimize the risk of infection caused by paper-based medical records via contacts, but also effectively save the hospital of its operating costs and improve its efficiency of clinical work.

ABSTRACT

Background: Partogram is being used since 1954 when Friedman described it for monitoring progress of labour. The Paperless Partogram proposed by Dr. Debdas is a low-skill method for detection of abnormal labour. The objective of the present study was to know efficacy and user friendliness of paperless partogram in comparison with WHO partogram in monitoring and management of labourMethods: It’s a comparative study. Total of 100 patients were included in the study where half of the patients were monitored by paperless partogram and the other half by WHO modified partogram. The plotting of the WHO partographs started as soon the cervical dilatation was 4 cm along with regular painful uterine contractions. In the paperless partogram calculation will be two times, an ALERT ETD (estimated time of delivery) and an ACTION ETD. The outcome of labour will be recorded at the end of each partographs. Results: Paperless partogram was better than WHO partogram in terms of documentation, ease of use, learning, time factor, cost effectiveness and monitoring of labour, identification of abnormal labour. Conclusions: In present study paperless partogram was found to be preferred for monitoring of labour.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to establish the relationships of innovation in communications and information technologies as well as the evolution of mobile formats with the creation of proposals that are presented as ecological alternatives to the use of paper, through the literature review and experiences around the world that support the paperless initiative as an alternative to sustainable development and environmental balance by reducing paper consumption through migration to the use of digital files in offices and workplaces with large volume of paper consumption. Cases such as Axtel in Mexico and the proposals at MIT with the creation of digital inks, serve as support of innovations according to the environment. The need to go beyond the efforts that have been initiated in Latin America to create a culture of recycling and encourage people to use the technologies developed for the replacement of paper as a method of reducing environmental exploitation are important findings of this research.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the process of clinical nursing operation assessment in a third-grade class-A hospital in China, and design the scoring system of clinical nursing operation examination (SSCNOE), and discuss its clinical application effect. Methods Through operation process analysis chart to analyze the flow of current clinical nursing operation assessment of shanxi provincial people's hospital to look for improvement priorities that can be optimized, and based on Microsoft Visual Basic technology and 15 commonly used clinical nursing operation, we developed SSCNOE. A total of 102 nurses were selected as subjects and were randomly divided into the experimental and control groups using random numbers. The experimental group accepted SSCNOE examination, while the control group received the traditional paper test. The differences in the examination time and examination cost between the two groups were compared. Results SSCNOE simplified the examination process of clinical nursing operation and saved a lot of manpower, material and financial resources. The time required to use SSCNOE was (202.13±24.69)min, shorter than the traditional assessment (347.67±6.51)min (t=12.99, P<0.01), and the overall cost was (948.13± 72.47)yuan, lower than the traditional test (1689.12 ± 126.72)yuan (t=13.56, P<0.01). Conclusion The research and application of SSCNOE can improve the efficiency of the assessment of nursing operation, save the cost of examination and improve the level of hospital nursing information construction.
